What are your favorite games in the series, from most to least favorite?
Mines: 1 > 2/X > 5 > 3 > Geo Storm (you can count this too, if you want) > 6 > 4
First two swap depending on my mood.
3 used to be at the top, though.
I'm back.
Too many.

Thanks for responding, 53!
Same, 3 used to be peak for me til I remember that longass Mission 5...and that Mission 4 boss.
I’m not necessarily a fan but I do enjoy the ones that I’ve played. I have played some of the Arcade Games but the only one I own a copy of is Metal Slug Advance. I think it’s pretty good.
Ay SolidSnake, thanks for commenting! I haven't played Advance, but it does look decent!
Hmmm, I really think 1 is best, and then 3 -> 2/X for me. I've never actually played 4 or 5. Is that a post-MAME/arcade era release?
Ay Common, much thanks for your comment, hope you're doing good!
And that's a coo order of the OG trilogy! 4 & 5 were released in the arcades, but they're moreso post-OG SNK releases (and the original Metal Slug team had left by that point).
Here's my take on 4 & 5:
Let's just say after the 'Endgame'-level stuff in 3, don't expect much w/ 4. It is a (whooooa) big step down in quality. There's coo concepts in it and a great soundtrack, but it's an ugly game to look at sometimes, and the balancing is garbage in various places (Mission 4...holy shit).
Even though people hated part 5, I still genuinely enjoy it. It kinda brought back some of the insanity from 3 (love the bizarre Final Mission), and took the series in a bit of a new direction. In spite of a few issues (it was rushed to release, sadly), the quality is a legit big step-up from 4. Plus, it's kinda short like the 1st game, and its soundtrack is awesome (really puts the 'Metal' in Metal Slug).

3 > 2/X > 1 > 4 > 5... is what I might've said fifteen years ago. Played 3 again recently and it was an absolute (metal) slog in places so who knows.
